This Cookie Policy explains how ilzion(“ilzion”, “we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar browser storage on www.ilzion.com. ilzion is a live, multiplayer quiz platform: hosts create quizzes, and players join a quiz by entering a PIN and a nickname. We have deliberately kept our use of cookies and storage as small as possible, and this page lists everything we actually use.
The short version: we use only functional cookies and storage — the kind that are needed to sign you in, keep you in a quiz, and remember your basic preferences. We do not use analytics, advertising, or cross-site tracking cookies. For the full picture of how we handle data, please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies and local storage are
A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store and send back on later requests. Cookies are commonly used to keep you signed in, to remember short-lived steps in a flow, and to keep a session working as you move between pages.
Local storage (and the related session storage) is a separate place in your browser where a site can save small pieces of information on your own device. It is not automatically sent to a server with every request — it stays in your browser and is read by the page when needed, for example to remember your chosen theme.
We use both, but only for the functional purposes described below. Nothing on this page is used to build an advertising profile or to follow you across other websites.
2. The cookies we use
These are set in your browser as cookies. They are essential to running the service — without them you could not stay signed in or safely connect a streaming account.

3. The browser storage we use
Most of what makes a quiz feel smooth is kept in your browser’s localStorage on your own device, not in cookies. All of these are functional — they make the product work and remember your preferences. None of them are used for tracking.

Device id (ilzion_client_id) | A randomly generated identifier used only to enforce per-quiz kick and block lists (anti-harassment) — so a player removed from a quiz cannot immediately rejoin to disrupt it. It is not used for tracking, advertising, or fingerprinting, it is not linked to your identity across the web, and it resets if you clear your site data. |
Players who join a quiz by PIN do not create an account. The play-session items above let the quiz work on their device for that session; you can clear them at any time as described in section 5.
4. What we do NOT use
To be completely clear, ilzion does not use:
- analytics cookies or third-party analytics services (for example, no Google Analytics);
- advertising, marketing, or retargeting cookies, and no ad networks;
- cross-site tracking, behavioral profiling, or browser fingerprinting;
- third-party social media tracking pixels (for example, no Meta Pixel).
Because everything we use is strictly functional and there is no tracking, there is nothing to consent to for tracking — there is no tracking. We do not gate the site behind a tracking-consent banner, because we are not asking for permission to do something we do not do. The essential cookies above are required for the service to work at all.
5. How to control or clear cookies and storage
You are always in control of what your browser stores. You can view, block, or delete cookies and local storage through your browser’s settings. The exact steps differ by browser, but most offer:
- a privacy / cookies and site data section where you can clear data for a specific site or for all sites;
- an option to block or limit cookies, either generally or per site;
- developer or site-information tools that let you inspect and delete individual cookies and storage entries for ilzion.
Please note that because the items we use are functional, clearing or blocking them has real effects: clearing your authentication cookie will sign you out, clearing your play-session storage will drop you from a quiz in progress, and clearing your preferences will reset your theme, language, and notification choices to their defaults. Clearing your site data also resets the ilzion_client_id device id described above.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if the way we use cookies or browser storage changes — for example, if we add a new functional cookie or introduce a service that requires one. When we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If we ever introduced anything beyond strictly functional cookies, we would explain it here and seek your consent where the law requires it.
